127.0.0.1:4664 and Google Desktop Search
Recently I checked my website stats and saw I had a few hits from “127.0.0.1:4664″ and wondered to myself, what the heck is that? Am I looking at my own site from a localhost? Why am I getting backlinks from my local computer to my site.
After searching around a bit I found out that port 4664 is used by Google Desktop Search and when I typed in certain queries into Google it also returned items from my desktop search.
Now you know!

how do i fixe thiS probLem
What do you want to “fix” about this? Do you not want your local searches to appear in your browser?
NB. Nobody else can see them..
this is what occured:thiss error occured serever can not be found .The link may be broken opr the link127.0.0.1:may be misspelled
I’m not sure if this is even a Google Toolbar problem?
..Or are you trying to connect to a localhost webserver?
Hello, great article!! I got you bookmarked. Thanks and best wishes
i get this message when i search on my start button. i have been trying uninstall avg thought i had but every time i open up i get a box that says avg programme installer needs permission etc. if i dlete or press continue nothing happens. the problem is i think this programme was responsible for stopping my lexmark printer working thats why i removed it and went with norton
Hi Diane,
You will need to make sure that AVG really is uninstalled correctly. There is obviously still traces of the un/installer around attached to some item returned in your search – to be honest I don’t really understand your connection to the problem and the search functionality.
Sorry to be the one to tell you this, but most people usually do the antivirus steps the other way around. They buy a new PC with Norton on and then go about getting it off and putting, well, almost anything else on instead. This is due to Norton being quite the “bloated-take-over-your-system” creep that it becomes after a while.
But by no means remove it if it works for you!
hallo mijn pc staat in en beveiligde modus en dat leverd problemen op allemaal nu wil ik dat uitschakelen maar weet niet hoe
Just reboot the machine! If it does not exit Safemode then you can press F8 during the boot to choose a different option.
